Scale up a CT- iSupport model
to address unmet needs
of dementia carers
// Making an impact
Collaborative iSupport Scale-up
This project, funded by MRFF (2025-2030), aims to reduce inequalities in accessing high-quality support services for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) carers of people with dementia
// Summary
Project Overview
The project includes three connected phases:
Phase 1: Co-design Practical Strategies with Stakeholders to Scale Up the CT-iSupport
Phase 1 Protocol is accessible here
Phase 2: Evaluate a Training Program for CT-iSupport Providers
Phase 3: Evaluate Implementation Strategies, CT-iSupport Effectiveness, and Costs/Benefits

//Study aims
The 5 key aims of this project

1
To reduce inequalities in accessing high-quality support services for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) carers of people with dementia (PWD)

2
To scale up a sustainable Culturally Tailored iSupport model of care (CT-iSupport) through cross-sector collaboration

3
To co-design practical strategies with stakeholders to maximise the acceptability, fidelity, and feasibility of the CT-iSupport model within a cross-sector collaborative contex

4
To evaluate a training program for CT-iSupport providers to assess its impact on their capabilities to effectively scale up the CT-iSupport model

5
To undertake a type 3 hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial to evaluate the CT-iSupport’s implementation strategies, its effectiveness as an intervention, and its associated costs and benefits

// The end results
Expected benefits
01. Quality of life
Improved health and quality of life for CALD carers and their care recipients
02. Establishment of evidence-based, practical strategies and resources
to maximise the acceptability, fidelity, and feasibility of the Culturally Tailored iSupport (CT-iSupport) model
03. Development and evaluation of an evidence-based training program for CT-iSupport providers
to enhance the capabilities of facilitators across aged care, Carer Gateway, and Primary Health Networks (PHNs) to effectively deliver the CT-iSupport model
04. Demonstration of the CT-iSupport intervention’s effectiveness and its associated costs and benefits
a hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial (Phase 3) to assess the intervention’s impact on carers’ quality of life and self-efficacy, as well as the cost-effectiveness from a broad societal perspective
05. Embedding and sustained adoption of the CT-iSupport model within the aged care, social care, and primary care systems.
By fostering cross-sector collaboration and leveraging existing funding mechanisms like Carer Gateway, the project aims to institutionalise the CT-iSupport model, ensuring its continued uptake and accessibility beyond the trial period.
